Dark Side of the Plate

Dark Dine Invisible is a restaurant based on the concept of Dark Dining. Life in the city is one of continuous sensory overload. We rush through meals, seldom pausing to take everything in. At Dark, guests dine in absolute darkness, letting the other senses (touch, smell, hearing, taste) kick in. And by dark, i don't mean dim lighting. The place is absolutely completely (see photos below) devoid of light, besides one teensy bright dot we're not sure if we were imagining :P

H and I decided to give this a shot, and tried an early dinner.
Here is my review :)

Decor : Basic :P
It was really interesting to try and estimate sizes and positions
of things on the table without being able to see.
5/8

Food : Pretty tasty!
There is a choice of a Vietnamese/Thai/Indian/Chinese platter (the menu is pre-decided)
with both veg an non-veg options.
The appetizers were pretty nice, main courses a leedle bland.
It was not as easy as i thought it'd be, guessing the flavours that went in the food!
I'm still not sure exactly what one of the appetisers was.
It was cuboidal and sponge-like, slightly sweet. It smelled...pink.
Portions are pretty generous, gotta say. Neither of us were able to finish off everything on the plate.
4.5/6

Service : Very friendly.
The waiters are all visually impaired.
Our waiter Chandrashekar was quite polite and attentive.
The rest of the staff are also pleasantly chatty.
7.5/9

Picture of us happily eating.
I kinda gave up on both the spoon and the fork and resorted to hand-shovelling of food :P

Total score : 17/23

The overall experience is actually really interesting and worth a one time try. I do think that the experience becomes more about the darkness than the food itself, kinda like the Guggenheim became more about the building than the art. Gets my vote for a truly blind date :P

If and when you do go, tell us what you thought! :)
Here are the deets.
